How do you generally correct texts?
I usually correct texts using the “Track Changes” function of
Microsoft Word. If you wish, I can also carry out corrections with a red
pencil or pen and use the standard German proofreading marks (DIN 16511).
(Please leave a wide right margin for notes in the latter case.)
Do you also correct texts applying either the old or the new German spelling rules?
Yes, I offer both of them. Of course, all my corrections will be consistent in applying either the old or the new spelling rules. However, it is important
that you tell me beforehand if you want to have a text corrected according to the old spelling rules.
How do you correct translations?
I compare the English source text with the German translation. Any mistakes and errors will be corrected. In addition, the text will be checked for spelling mistakes, punctuation errors,
style, consistency, etc. You can read more about this here: Proofreading
and editing.
What type of corrections of translations don't you provide as part of your service?
Translations into German from other languages than English, |
|
Translations into German without the English source text, |
|
Specialist translations into German in areas that do not belong to my fields of expertise, |
|
Translations that have been produced using a translation program (e.g. Google Translate, Babelfish, etc.), or |
|
Translations containing an abnormally large number of errors and mistranslations. |
Can I visit you during office hours?
I work in my private home and am not set up for customer traffic. Contacting
me by e-mail, phone or Skype is usually completely sufficient
to discuss and meet your requirements. If you have very large documents
to be translated, you can also send them to me by post (CD-ROM, DVD, USB
stick). If you live in Berlin, I can also collect the data storage devices
from your place. There is also the possibility to set up a cloud storage
on the Internet (Google
Drive, Microsoft
OneDrive, Dropbox)
from which I could then download all the needed data.
What would be the best way to contact you?
